Eric McCormack, Fran Drescher, Judy Reyes, Brooke Smith and Maura Tierney of the MCC Theater off-Broadway play "SOME GIRLS" downtown at FLORENCIA 13 RESTAURANT (185 Sullivan Street) for a post-performance wrap party where they enjoyed many rounds of the signature "Florencia 13 Flaming Margarita" and the Southern California-style Mexican cuisine specially prepared by owners Ralph and Rina Camarillo. Cast, and crew joined by the Camarillo family, moved the party out front onto Sullivan Street for a little theatrical karaoke, 'singing' the biting (and sometimes misogynistic) monologues from Neil LaBute's play well past midnight.... Using family recipes with an East Los Angeles twist this quaint and funky eatery is amassing a loyal band of customers who swear that it is the only place to get great Mexican cuisine in New York City. Owners, Ralph, Rina, Gina, Marco, and Lennard (The Camarillo Family) are natives of East Los Angeles, CA and use their authentic Mexican Family recipes mixed with the unique culture of Southern California to create traditional Mexican dishes with a low rider flair. With dish names like, The Mulholland Drive Salad (avocado, artichoke hearts, tomatos, radiccio, and onion tossed in a homemade vinaigrette dressing) East Los Burrito, and the Santa Monica it is hard to either ignore or not respect this family owned cantina. Favorite dishes among those that enter and are enveloped by the mellow funk atmosphere are the al pastor tacos: (made with the secret recipe 13-spice rubbed pork) and the Mole (need description).
